A little about Noddy and the History behind Drouin Nursery
Some years ago Peter (Noddy) Collier was being interviewed by Ron Lock from 3UL (as it was known then) and he was asked, " When did you know that you were going to be a gardener"? He said, " When I was seven I was playing in the garden and I knocked myself, I looked down and I was bleeding dirt. So I knew that I was always going to be gardener"!
Noddy left home in 1972 when he was fifteen and did his apprenticeship at Hills Nursery Warragul. He spent eleven years in wholesale nurseries. In 1982 he managed the retail side of Christies Garden Centre until 1988. From there he worked with Paul Bransgrove in wholesale again until 1993.
Noddy spent the next nine years landscape gardening for local builders, then he began working for Margie Milne at the Drouin Nursery in Lampards Road. He bought the nursery from Margie and has been the owner for eleven years.
Noddy and Lena look forward to seeing you at the nursery.
